Luke’s transgressions are no longer tolerated by the Guardians of Light.
Banishing Luke from the World of Light they send him to the Underworld of Darkness.
Unwilling to accept his transgressions
The Underworld’s demons torment him
Images of his past haunt him
Soften his resistance
Luke trembles with fear. He is confused about seeing the light and staircase. A moment ago it was total darkness everywhere.
Consciously ascending towards the light
Each step behind him crumbles away
Aware of symbolic message
Indicating steps forward
After a great distance
Portal on landing
My family once had two white cats. They chased after each other through the house, sliding on the wooden floors, banging into doors and continue on.
One day, with the two children in the car, we went to the country to see the trees in their Autumn colours. One of the children called from the back seat that a kitten was there in the trees. We stopped the car. It was a blue-eyed white kitten, infested with fleas, worms, with eye and ear infections. A kitten, probably 2 or 3 weeks old. We brought her to the vet, got her shots, prescriptions and so on. We got her clean and healthy again. On her next visit to the vet, he told us that she was blind and deaf.
Now we had three white cats running through the house, and two kids running after the cats through the house. Those were the days, long ago now.
The following poem has nothing to do with my story. When I wrote the poem for the prompt I thought back to the time when we found our little white cat.
Written for V.J. Prompt: Character
Characteristically, she offers
caring to the blue-eyed stray kitten

Let it Be
landscape around me
stripped to the bone, forgotten
Unbalanced, I collapsed to the ground
face forward at the feet of a stark tree.
Under earth’s surface, roots whispered to me,
“Abundant life source repose within
resplendent light is seeking you
animate inner vision
beauty in ruggedness
see complete likeness
let it be

Double Reverse Etheree poetry form
Lady of the Sea
Long ago, alongside whales and dolphins
Swimming carefree beneath ocean waves
Peculiar beings entrapped me
Forcefully brought me to shore
Positioned their trophy
Clothed into stone
My heart grieves
For source of life
Direct gaze to sea
In the absence of breath
How can I reclaim my heart
Will strangers ever part with me
Respect appeal from Whales and Dolphins
Grant my spirit a return to the sea

Double Etheree poetry form
Grave tearing eyes
behind hazy veil
Wriggling worms inch in her brain,
demon denounces her evil
bellowing, “Kill the King! Kill the King!”
Dagger in hand perforates her belly.
Worms slithering in her infested womb.
Poison-laced blade reaching to the King,
demons echoing, “King is Dead!”
Exultation raise the veil
Embracing the void
she reigns on High
