(a reflection)

fresh, clear
reflection of earth,
Mother dear

soothing sound to the ears;
boisterous in times of fear

source of life,
giver of satisfaction
flowing in its very Name

perfect mirror to Father sky
blue ripples sparkle;
collecting moisture

need caring;
given priority and place,
safety and conservation

from tap to lips,
swift refreshing delivery
life to the body

flowing to four corners
relief to the soil
reaching forward to the Source

need safety from the enemy
lurching in the shadows
flushed through streams
foul smelling parts and particles
unclean cloudy substance

water’s lament:
“Am I meant to die,
unclean and forgotten?”
